Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through our website, application, support channels, and communications. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we do not control.
Information We Collect
- Account and profile information: such as name, email address, phone number, and account preferences.
- Game and guest management information: such as player names, contact details, RSVPs, invite status, lock-confirmation status, and organizer notes.
- Communications data: such as message templates, delivery metadata, response status, and opt-in/opt-out indicators, including consent records for SMS verification and guest game alerts.
- Founding Host and research application information: such as your name, contact details, region, game cadence, player count, current tools, next-game timing, stated coordination pain, referral source, and consent to follow up.
- Billing and transaction information: when you subscribe to Plus, start a trial, or purchase additional credits, payment processing is handled by Stripe on the web, by Apple for App Store purchases, or by Google for Google Play purchases. RevenueCat helps us process native app subscription status and entitlements. We receive limited billing and transaction metadata (for example, customer identifiers, subscription or invoice identifiers, payment method metadata where applicable, billing region/postal fields where provided, amounts, product identifiers, entitlement status, and renewal/cancellation state), but we do not store full card numbers.
- Device, log, and usage information: such as IP address, browser/device information, pages viewed, click events, and interaction telemetry.
- Approximate location signals: inferred from IP/network metadata and, where relevant, billing-location metadata to understand regional interest and improve operations.
How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve BluffBuddy services and workflows.
- Create and manage accounts, game sessions, invites, reminders, and lock confirmations.
- Process and reconcile billing events and purchases.
- Monitor reliability, detect fraud/abuse, and secure accounts and infrastructure.
- Provide customer support and respond to legal/privacy requests.
- Evaluate Founding Host applications, prioritize qualified recurring organizers, coordinate setup or feedback conversations, and ask consenting applicants for product feedback. Founding Host contact details are not used for unrelated marketing.
- Analyze product usage trends, including regional demand patterns, in aggregate or de-identified form where feasible.
How We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers and processors: including vendors that support hosting, analytics, messaging, authentication, observability, payment processing, and subscription entitlement management.
- Payment and subscription processing: web payments are processed by Stripe, App Store purchases are processed by Apple, Google Play purchases are processed by Google, and RevenueCat helps synchronize native subscription status with BluffBuddy entitlements.
- Communications providers: including Twilio (SMS delivery and phone messaging metadata) and Mailgun (email delivery and email metadata) for operational communication workflows.
- Consent records: text messaging originator opt-in data and consent records are used to operate BluffBuddy messaging and are not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing or unrelated use.
- Hosting and security providers: including Cloudflare for edge hosting, DDoS protection, and related security/reliability functions such as bot and human-verification checks on public forms.
- Observability and analytics tooling: including telemetry/monitoring providers used to detect reliability issues, understand feature usage, and measure aggregate regional demand.
- Legal and safety purposes: when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, users, and platform integrity.
- Corporate transactions: in connection with merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
Payments, App Stores, and RevenueCat
BluffBuddy uses Stripe for web purchases, Apple for App Store purchases, Google for Google Play purchases, and RevenueCat to help manage native app subscription status and entitlement updates. These providers may process personal data under their own privacy policies and account terms.
You can review Stripe's privacy information at https://stripe.com/privacy.
By starting a purchase, you authorize the applicable payment provider and BluffBuddy to process transactions, subscription events, entitlement status, fraud-prevention signals, accounting records, and support information needed to provide paid services. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are managed through the user's Apple or Google account, including cancellation and store refund handling where applicable.
SMS and Communication Preferences
BluffBuddy sends two different kinds of SMS messages. First, when you enter a phone number into a phone-number-accepting sign-in or sign-up form and request a verification code, you consent to receive one-time passcodes and account/security texts at that number. These messages are separate from game alerts and are used only for account access, recovery, and security.
Second, BluffBuddy only sends organizer game alerts after a guest explicitly opts in on a BluffBuddy guest page or after the guest responds JOIN to a branded BluffBuddy consent prompt they have already seen. We do not use unsolicited SMS as the first contact for collecting guest consent. The consent flow identifies ActDaily, Inc. d/b/a BluffBuddy, the organizer or game, the message purpose, and that message frequency varies and message/data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to opt out of SMS where supported and HELP for help. BluffBuddy processes communication content and delivery metadata to provide invite, reminder, lock-confirmation, and account-security features, improve deliverability, and detect abuse. We do not guarantee carrier delivery, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties except as needed to operate the messaging service and maintain compliance records.
Cookies, Analytics, and Location Signals
We use analytics and similar technologies to understand usage, conversion funnels, and service quality. This can include inferred approximate geolocation from network metadata. We use this information for operations, product improvement, and marketing analysis.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including service delivery, account administration, security, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements.
Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
US State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability, and rights related to certain processing activities. To exercise rights, email support@bluffbuddy.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Colorado residents: under the Colorado Privacy Act, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain portability of personal data, and to opt out of certain processing such as targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Where required by applicable law, we process recognized universal opt-out signals for targeted advertising or sale processing and describe those methods in our privacy notice.
We generally respond to verifiable privacy requests within 45 days, and where permitted by law may extend that period with notice to you.
We do not sell personal data for money. We share data with processors/service providers to operate BluffBuddy.
Children's Privacy
BluffBuddy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
